 Head Forward Centre- Past Events

Christmas Party

Lord Bradley of Withington, (one of our patrons) and Maggie Cottam (Centre Manager) before the start of  Christmas 07 gathering which was attended by  attendees and their families. The event raised over £700.

On Friday 7th of December 2007 Head Forward Centre opened its doors for the Christmas gathering which as usual was very well supported by the head injured  attendees  and their families  for an annual  fund raising  Raffle and  mince pies. We were also delighted to welcome the three Head Forward Centre Patrons ; Lord  Bradley of Withington PC, Mr John Kennedy CBE & Professor David Neary MD FRCP.

It was also a chance for everyone to meet in a festive setting  which was also enlivened by our student volunteers from the Manchester University Psychology department.

 In General

Our activity year is approximately forty six (46) weeks divided into four Terms, Spring, Summer, & Autumn & Winter. In order to enable the continuation of our voluntary sector service, all Attendees must be funded per term either by their Case manager, Trustee, or the Social Services. For details of our Service Contract and funding requirements please contact Maggie Cottam at headforward@tiscali.co.uk  or telephone 0161-434-2150.

Due to an increased number of attendees since September we are now having to create a waiting list for those wishing to attend on Fridays - but we have some vacancies available on Mondays and Tuesdays (10.a.m. – 3.30 p.m.). Please check our web site for the Head Forward Centre attendance/exclusion criteria and further information.

5K Run

Tony Cottam (left, below) pictured with his brother John in Alexandra Park, Manchester.  Tony had just completed a 5k run with 10 colleagues from Irwell Valley Housing Association raising a total of £810 for Head Forward Centre.Tony's brother, John, is a Trustee of the Head Forward Centre charity and sustained his injury in 1979.We are obviously very grateful to Tony and colleagues for the training and effort they put into raising this money. With the proceeds from this race we purchased some display boards which will be very useful for advertising our service at various exhibitions.

Activity Weekend at Edale YHA Friday 20th June to Sunday 22rd June

We had a great weekend at Edale, on Friday we did some problem solving and some of the group went
on a walk up Mam Tor for an evening walk while others played games.

Saturday was a bit unkind with the weather but we soldiered on with abseiling and canoeing- unfortunately Gill and Richard got wet but were ok!  Sunday we did Archery we had some different games this time, which was great.  This trip was made possible because of the funds donated earlier in the year from Mrs. Brooksbank as a memorial to her son Stephen.  Thanks to Reg for organizing this fabulous trip.
